Can I have some more chocolate?

When my son was in first or second grade, we used to stop at a coffee shop near his school for breakfast.  He would often get a chocolate croissant.

One morning while he was eating, he shared that he wished that the layer of chocolate went all the way to the edges.  He didn’t like the part that was just bread.  Luckily I did and he would give me the crusts and I’d happily eat them, scavenger that I am.

I suggested to my son that he could tell the coffee shop folks about his comment.  He told them and do you know that they started making them with more chocolate?

The moral of the story?  Speak up!  And, more chocolate is always better!

Supporting Your Local Coffee Shop

There’s a small family owned coffee shop near my office called Sip of Seattle. I have many coffee choices while at work

• drink the office coffee
• Caribou
• Starbucks
• Sip of Seattle

I like Starbucks as much as the next girl.  My friend Mirna likes Sip and she’s gotten me hooked on it.  For one thing, she doesn’t really like Starbuck’s coffee.  Second, Sip’s owners are Colombian.

The other day I bought a cup from Sip and felt good about supporting them.  They are nice people. If we don’t support small, local businesses, they will go away.  Please support your local businesses.  They are unique jewels that can’t be duplicated.
