Not being the first person to run to the kitchen when sweets are put out

I work in an office where people are always sharing food.  People bring in cakes.  They put out muffins, scones, and croissants, like there ain’t no tomorrow.  It’s hard n a girl who likes to eat.

I’m trying to avoid the kitchen area but it takes much strength.

And when I get an email saying “Goodies in the kitchen!” I’m trying not run the 100 yard dash getting over there.

Sweets, I will resist you!

Get back up on the horse

No matter what you are trying to do, life is a series of screw ups.  It’s full of triumphs too.  But when you mess up, get up, brush yourself off, learn from your mistakes and move on.

If you mess up, it’s not end of world. God doesn’t expect perfect. He expects you to keep trying.

i choose me

I choose me. I choose thinner. I choose my health. I choose to feel good. I choose to use restraint. I choose not to eat junk. I choose to be in control. I choose to be disciplined.  I choose to stick with this. I choose not to be a human Yo-Yo. I choose to keep my weight down. I choose me.

Can I have some more chocolate?

When my son was in first or second grade, we used to stop at a coffee shop near his school for breakfast.  He would often get a chocolate croissant.

One morning while he was eating, he shared that he wished that the layer of chocolate went all the way to the edges.  He didn’t like the part that was just bread.  Luckily I did and he would give me the crusts and I’d happily eat them, scavenger that I am.

I suggested to my son that he could tell the coffee shop folks about his comment.  He told them and do you know that they started making them with more chocolate?

The moral of the story?  Speak up!  And, more chocolate is always better!

Me vs. Cake

Being thin is a choice. Maybe it isn't for everyone. Some people seem to be born
thin. For me to get thin, it will be a choice. It means time after time making
the choice to say no to cake. And cookies. And brownies. And ice cream. And
fudge. I think you get the picture. :)

Breaking food down into serving sizes

I have been watching my serving sizes lately.  My favorite afternoon snack is pretzels.  The bag I buy has 4 services.  That’s 5 pretzels per serving.  I was a good little girl and counted out 4 bags of 5 pretzels each and wrapped up each in tin foil.

I can do this.  You can too!  🙂

Kitchen Aid on the Brain

Forgive me but I can’t stop thinking about these mixers.  They combine so many things I care about: hand-made things, people working in manufacturing, cooking, colors, and quality.  Take a look at this video about the history of these mixers.  You just might want one too!

By the way, my latest favorite color is red.  🙂

I Deserve A KitchenAid Stand Mixer

I want one.  Plain and simple.  When you get to the point when you are turning 50, you love to bake, and you’ve never had one, you deserve a $350 mixer.  Don’t you agree?

The big decision is what color to get!
